Increasing competition

The top 10 countries for regenerative-medicine output in the Nature Index for 2016 to 2025 are shown, measured by Share. The gap between the United States and China could shrink in the coming years if the broader trend of China’s rapid expansion in the index — particularly in the health sciences — continues.

Priority area

Of the leading 50 institutions for regenerative medicine in the Nature Index for 2016 to 2025, these 10 had the highest proportion of their total research output related to the topic. For example, just over 10% of the University of Cincinnati in Ohio’s overall output in Nature Index journals is related to regenerative medicine.

Country collaborations

These are the top country pairs in regenerative medicine, ranked by total bilateral collaboration score between 2016 and 2025. Despite the United States individually having more than 10 times the regenerative-medicine Share of some countries in this list, the pairings all feature strong contributions by both partners.
